The 'buttons' seem to be a nuclear symbol. I would secure this yataghan behind some lead bricks

Hello,
this kind of "nuclear symbol" decoration can often be seen on Bosnian Bishaqs of the mid to late 19th century. Best regards, Helge |

Hi Spunger,
The "buttons" are characteristic of Ottoman work, usually seen in flintlocks and in Balkan daggers. Perhaps this is Balkan? |

The owner of this yataghan has informed me that this sword is now for sale on eBay. Accordingly, I am moving this thread to Swap so that everyone is aware that it is now on eBay and for sale.
Please observe the EAA Forum policy about not commenting on active auctions. If you wish to correspond with Ron about this sale, please post your question in Swap or use the PM or email functions on this site. Ian. Last edited by Ian; 13th November 2006 at 06:01 PM. |
