				 | rencong - is it from Gayo?

Greetings folks, I got this rencong made of ivory, laminated steel, and low carat gold with enamel. It is 17 inches overall. Also I had to take the rust off and re-etch the blade. Eventually I want to make a scabbard for it. Is this from Gayo? |

Hello Jose, A very nice rencong puntung with double crown and hippo ivory handle. I don't think that it is a Gayo piece. Regards, Detlef |

Hi Jose, Nice rencong! I also think this one is from Aceh and not Gayo. Though I have seen these type of hilts also with typical Gayo fittings. That seems not the case with yours. |

Thank you folks. I was also thinking this was Sumatran if not Gayo. I would use wood, but it is the carving that stumps me and what it should look like. |

Maybe you can use the photos as example for your scabbard. Kind regards, Maurice | |
