Latest acquisition, a simple dha, more of an everyday dha than purely a weapon. A good and very sharp blade. Against the handle two circular marks. Thickness of blade against the handle is 9mm, 50,5 cm long, length sword 78cm and oal 83 cm. Sheath in a good condition, missing a few rattan straps. Northern Thailand? 20th century?

Hi Marc,
Yes, Northern Thai to Laos borders, late 19th century would be my guess. It's a good blade, more for fighting than for daily work. Regards, Detlef |

It's not patina, the scabbard and handle is lacquered black, this is more common in Laos to this time. It's one of the forms found at a specific time in this region. Regards, Detlef |
