Congratulations Detlef,

What a fantastic Malay sundang!
Wonderful ivory hilt and fiber winding around the handle.
Also the blade shows great lamination.
Is this 'dark' etch of the blade a common thing on Malay sundangs?
I remember I owned a Malay sundang with a similar dark/black etch on the blade. At that time I thought it had a 'Javanese' (not genuine) treatment.

Kind regards,
Maurice

Hello Albert,

I can't answer your question since I don't have it in my hands yet!

Hello Albert,

Since I've received it today I am able to answer your question now, no, the edges are not really sharp.

Regards,
Detlef

Thank you Maurice,

Since it seems to be the original etch it would be nearby that it was a common thing.

Best regards,
Detlef
