Congratulations Detlef,
What a fantastic Malay sundang! Wonderful ivory hilt and fiber winding around the handle. Also the blade shows great lamination. Is this 'dark' etch of the blade a common thing on Malay sundangs? I remember I owned a Malay sundang with a similar dark/black etch on the blade. At that time I thought it had a 'Javanese' (not genuine) treatment. Kind regards, Maurice |

Hello Albert,
Since I've received it today I am able to answer your question now, no, the edges are not really sharp. Regards, Detlef Last edited by Sajen; 10th January 2025 at 01:35 PM. Reason: spelling |

Since it seems to be the original etch it would be nearby that it was a common thing. Best regards, Detlef |
