Xas, Were these a museum or someone’s personal collection?
So amazing. Just when you think you’ve seen it all.Kampilan’s (?), with unusual blades. |

Halloo sir, the auction house didn't specify the source, but from what I understand, such panoplies can be found either in museums (some can be seen in a previous thread on PI weapons in Spanish museums) or private collections by Spanish royalty or affluent families.

Exceptional! Also when some other weapons mixed in which are not Philippine.
Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for sharing this amazing collection of Philippines weaponry. I noticed a few Indonesian keris also slipped into the mix.

Hi Xas,
Just amazing quality and diversity of pieces. There are a few Indonesian items in there as well, and perhaps a Malay piece or two. I suppose it would be too much to ask whether there is any indication of when these items were collected? Ian. |

Glad you liked it gents! The mixing-in of Indomalay items are, in my opinion, an indicator of the human and artifact movements between PH and other locations during certain eras. As a conservative guess, I believe that most of the items (except probably for the Krises and kampilans, some of which I believe are older) were late Spanish colonial era up to American era
