Nice sword! I believe it’s a customised dress sword for an Austro-Hungarian cavalry officer. The pommel cap has the owner’s monogram and the basket features S:t George and the dragon. Other baskets feature the Habsburg eagle. In my opinion these swords are more desirable than the ones with plain baskets. It’s a pity that the nickel plating seems damaged in places. Don’t think you can repair this. But the fishskin grip looks surprisingly good condition. You can buy an antique portepee to complete the look.

Thanks Victrix.The plating has some minor loss here and there, but not very much.The blade is in amazing shape, probably because of the very tight fit of the scabbard.
