Thank you Kubur,
I would be very happy with an East African attribution, and it very well may be from the Omani holdings along the Swahili coast. When I put it next to my other swords from the same area, the blade in this shorter version is almost the same length on my saif Yamani, so maybe the owner wanted a weapon with dimensions close to the older form.
