Odd WWII US/T'boli/Maguindanao Dagger
Greetings folks,
I just got this off eBay. It looks like a WWII US blade with a T'boli cast brass custom hilt, a Maguindanao custom made scabbard out of wood and white metal (I tested the metal), and rubber insulated wire wrap (spray painted gold) around the mid-section. Interesting piece with cultural crossovers (what do you think Charles?). The US serviceman must have been stationed on Mindinao during WWII. Enjoy. |

Nice pick-up Jose!
I can't speak to the cultural crossovers here because I don't know enough about T'boli blades other than some basics, but I am expecting some interesting insight from other collectors of Filipino blades. |

Congrats, now I know it in good hands! I was bidding as well but forget to give my final bid because a friend visiting me. Why you think it's an american blade? The dagger Thinreadline show is similar but not the same.
It is without doubt a very interesting dagger, a little bit gunong like. Regards, Detlef |
