This is my last adquisition, a marvellous bolo from Luzón.
I´m very happy with this adquisition, always I followed this article and finally I have it. Thanks to Runjeet, from Akaal Arms , It was a pleasure made deals with him. Luzon Tabak Place of Origin: Luzon (Philippines) Date: 19thC Overall length: 20.5in (518mm) Blade length: 13.5in (343mm) Description from seller: A very fine and unusual Bolo ‘Tabak’ large knife from the Philippine island of Luzon, Circa 19th Century. The scabbard is of very well preserved tooled leather, with only a small split at the end. Lovely patina, and some Spanish influence to the decoration. The knife is large and heavy, the blade is sharp with a clip point and deep belly. Some staining and pitting consummate with age. The grip is wonderfully formed in the shape of a fist, probably Nickel or Brass, with a nicely knurled and chequered bolster. The other fittings are also probably Nickel or brass, they have a silvery yellow colour. The central grip is horn, decorated with Silver studs. A rare and fine item of it’s kind. An almost identical example can be found in Stones Glossary under ‘Bolas’ – Page 124. - I wish enjoy pictures and thanks again to Runjeet best regards carlos |

Yes I remember this piece. The middle pieces maybe silver, testing will determine for sure.
I ned to check my sources but I think that the blade is Pampangin. Congratulations! |

I think the mounts are white metal with the middle section on the horn being silver. But testing will tell if the pieces are truly silver or not.
