Wow Sajen, now that is a lovely piece! Love the knife itself perhaps a bit more than the scabbard. Can tell you that it takes a long time and much handling to obtain such a nice warm "golden" hue on the Mother of pearl handle. Also the siver ferrule looks quite old (bit older than 1930's to me!). Quite a jewel!
Am not an expert on these but would almost say that the knife would deserve a slight better scabbard (dark wood, silver bands?). But this scabbard is certainly also good n old n authentic. >yes the scabbard is from bamboo; very strong material and perhaps better than wood to use, though visually perhaps a bit less 'pleasing'. Thank you Wouter,
I am as well very pleased by my purchase! ![]() ![]() Agree with you about the scabbard, maybe it's an old replacement because the original one was lost, who knows? But the scabbard is well worked and seems to be made for the blade and with the polished up brass it looks nice enough. BTW, the blade seems to be laminated, will etch it by time. Best, Detlef |
