Bamboo or is it perhaps Rattan instead?

Think it is bamboo but can't confirm without fail since I don't have received it until now. Seller stated it is bamboo.

Wow Sajen, now that is a lovely piece! Love the knife itself perhaps a bit more than the scabbard. Can tell you that it takes a long time and much handling to obtain such a nice warm "golden" hue on the Mother of pearl handle. Also the siver ferrule looks quite old (bit older than 1930's to me!). Quite a jewel!

Am not an expert on these but would almost say that the knife would deserve a slight better scabbard (dark wood, silver bands?). But this scabbard is certainly also good n old n authentic.
>yes the scabbard is from bamboo; very strong material and perhaps better than wood to use, though visually perhaps a bit less 'pleasing'.

Thank you Wouter,

I am as well very pleased by my purchase!

Agree with you about the scabbard, maybe it's an old replacement because the original one was lost, who knows? But the scabbard is well worked and seems to be made for the blade and with the polished up brass it looks nice enough.

BTW, the blade seems to be laminated, will etch it by time.

Best,

Detlef

Hello Detlef, All that I can say is WOW and then add my congratulations on this very beautiful gunong that you have added to you collection. I have been waiting to post until you have received it so you would be able to post some better pictures that would show how nice it really is. Again my congratulation on your win. I am very envious.

Regards,
Robert

Thank you very much for your kind words! I think we both have a good eye for the ebay sleepers.
