Hi Jose,

yes, will etch the blade. The elongated handle and the thin bulbous midsection let me think that it is more early. You don't think that the midsection would be more bulgy by a 1940s gunong?

That is a good point. Usually the bulbous midsection gets bigger as time goes on. However, the use of MOP on this scale was a later development.

As I said 1930s at the earliest and 1940s at the latest.

One other possibility - the MOP pommel is a replacement at a later time than the midsection.

Also most of these seem to come out of Mindanao. However the lack of okir makes me wonder if this is from the Sulu region.

Thank you for clarification, this is a possibility since the sheath seems to be later as well. That it could be Sulu is an interesting point.
