Very nice example, but I echo lew's statement, that it doesn't have a scabbard and the nut at the buttend is not original..... So you're better off sending it over to me

Thanks all for your answers!!! I had doubts to bid or not, finally I didnīt bid adn after that I saw the auction relisted, to 99 $ buy it now and I bought it.

As I said it is a nice piece. Robert is right - the silver strip in the hilt needs to be polished to see it and the end needs a silver screw in cap.
You got it at a great buy. ![]() One other thing - I doubt there is any silver plating on it. |

For comparison, here is a very similar knife in my collection, a Katipunan Officer's Dagger, probably from the Batangas region of the Philippines, circa revolution of 1889-1902. Unlike the officers who carried blades of this type, rank and file members of Katipuna typically carried a bolo tabak (machete).
This knife is 14 inches in overall length. The diamond cross-section blade is 9.5 inches long. Brass guard. The dark hilt is turned kamagong or carabao horn and inlaid with twisted brass wire. The scabbard is leather, in fine condition, with silver mounts. |
