Keris for I.D.
Hi
Would someone be able to identify this keris (a bit damaged), I have ? Age, area of origin etc... Comments also welcome and thanks in advance. |

Colin,
The pesi is broken. Probably that is the reason why there is no mendak present. This keris is from East Java or Madura. Material of the ukiran is antler or bone as far as i can judge from the pictures. The scabbard is made in a very old fashioned way. The wranka is attached with wooden pieces to the gandar. You don't see that often any more. Mostly the wooden parts are replaced due to the climate in that area. The keris has age, that's for sure, but it is impossible to tell you how old it is. |
