after discovered this particularity, I tried to imagine ... "why" ??
- left hand user w/right hand user
- I think that the system of cords suspensor (3 points) and the small only 2, should have an impact (?)
anyway, the big one's hilt hasn't a decor on both side

I agree with Robert,
but according with ; size of edged weapons and quality of scabbard,
those dagger wasn't destined for the same social class of people, pure speculation
the brass scabbard owner was (may be) socially above the the leather scabbard bearer
