Make no mistake:-

human beings are important

but maybe not the way we would like to be.

I read a science fiction short story many, many years ago wherein the human life form was identified as a virus by a higher power.

You know what we do to viruses, don't you?

When I am not wrong it's the same story I read also as young man. So I know what you mean.

Sounds like an Isaac Asimov story!

I don't think Asimov wrote the story I'm thinking of. I honestly forget who wrote it, its probably 50 years since I read it.
