Gentlemen....when we first set up this forum a while back Rick and i discussed long and hard about what would be acceptable subject matter for discussion here. We decided that this would be a place solely for the discussion of keris. Even other Tosan aji like tombak is to be discussed in the main forum.
Hate me if you will, but i am closing this thread. If you guys want to pick up this discussion of other Nias weapons please feel free to do so on the main forum. Thanks for playing...

Alam Shah, Very interesting! This one seems to be bigger than the other examples.
Were these solely ceremonial or were these used, say, like a keris in terms of a dagger? What of the big ones? maybe they were also used like Kris Sundang depending on the size. Perhaps if they are ceremonial/ornamental then not at all. Either way, this is a very interesting development. This is a very great thread. Thanks to all who have contributed. I am not very familiar with Nias culture or blades (much less the rest of indonesia which I am still learning of!) |
