This is clearly a very plain percussion carbine (short gun) of Spanish origin. Not only the lock and stock but also the Castilian shape of the buttstock are characterisitically Spanish, ca. 1850-60. To me, the 'mark' does not seem to show an identfiable symbol. Best, Michael |
