As promised, here is a close up shot of the pierced silver so that you can see the silver sleeve in the background, albeit with tarnish that is showing through as black in spots. Also a couple of shots of the blade. Very thick spine with long shallow fuller and then 2 very narrow fullers running along the spine.

You know I was thinking about the pierced silverwork in SEA and remembered in Thailand with Silver purses:

Nathaniel thanks for posting those examples of pierced silver from the area. Looks like it is a long standing tradition and I'm sure there are probably other examples of dha scabbards with similar piercings.
