Rasdan: link to wikipedia
Hartadia: Syahadah
On purpose I didn't show the keris as a whole because good observers will have noticed no pamor on the blade.
At the time I received the keris I've put him aside, because the looks were very simple and hastily forged, almost forgot I had him.
Brought up with respect for kerisses but unable to read the text I wasn't satisfied at all with myself and for that reason I opened this thread.
Following the link of Rasdan and the remark of Hartadi (thanks to the both of you) I tried to resume my thoughts and please do correct me if I'm wrong:
Historicaly a keris is made for one person (let's forget all about “tourist kerisses”) and belongs to that person only, so far nothing new.
IMHO this keris has been made for initiation purposes and only used at (a muslim)school and to be used at initiation-day by any pupil who became muslim that day and where the keris is used to pay a certain respect (of course I'm not sure the kind of lessons which are followed there).
Not being muslim I do hope I've not offended anyone because that is not my intention, and if I did please do accept my humble apologies.
Back to my translation request: I copied the text of the Syahadah and put two triangles over part of the text. Triangles representing the blade from base to tip.
If I'm right there is indeed missing some text (Rasdan). Any reason for that or is it as it is?
Remarks/comments are very welcome and thanks for now,
wishing all members a PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!
Njo
