Hi,
Looks like you might have a nice find here. I agree with the assessment it is pre-1800. In fact it looks to me like a mid-18th century infantry sword, very similar to the model 1742 English Infantry Sword pattern that was popular in the 7 Years War (French & Indian War here in the States, or should I say colonies). The various markings appear to be regimental notations, and it was apparently reissued to a different regiment. Besides England, other European nations used similar patterns at the time. |
