Hi Forum

Can anyone help ID the markings on this early 19th century Sidearm?

Not sure of markings, but time period is earlier. Circa 1760-90's. This pattern could be German, but also possibly English?

Hi,
Looks like you might have a nice find here. I agree with the assessment it is pre-1800. In fact it looks to me like a mid-18th century infantry sword, very similar to the model 1742 English Infantry Sword pattern that was popular in the 7 Years War (French & Indian War here in the States, or should I say colonies). The various markings appear to be regimental notations, and it was apparently reissued to a different regiment. Besides England, other European nations used similar patterns at the time.

13.L.I.B.1.C. = 13 Linie Infanteri Battalion 1 Compagni.
HR.B.15 = Holstenske (infanteri) Regiment 2. compagni (serialnumber) 15
7.R.8C.19 = 7. Regiment 8. Compagni (serialnumber) 19

All Danish stamps....

It should be here:

Wow! HB, this is an outstanding link/site for Danish weapons. I find these types fascinating, as many are distinctive for their nation, while others mimic other Euro patterns. Thanks for posting it!

Yes it's a great reference site. I use it myself all the time, since I collect Danish blades.
