Greetings folks and Mabuhay!
below are 2 pictures of datus holding kris that I just found on the web. The first is a clearer single picture of datu Piang with a kris (better details than the stereoview). The second picture is a Sulu datu who is wielding a junggayan kris with silver silver clamps. Notice that his blade is etched dark. Enjoy! |

GREAT PICTURES
I WISH THE PHOTOGRAPHER HAD GOTTEN THE ENTIRE HILT OF THE KRIS IN IT LOOKS VERY UNUSUAL AND KIND OF LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A FIGURE INCORPORATED INTO THE POMMEL DESIGN ARE THOSE ARMS OR LEGS?. STILL IT IS A BETTER LOOK AT THE KERIS THAN i HAVE SEEN BEFORE. THE SECOND PHOTO SHOWS THE WARRIOR IN THE POSITION TO STRIKE I WONDER IF IT WAS THE PHOTOGRAPHERS LAST PICTURE. I ALSO NOTED HE HAS A LONG THIN OBJECT IN HIS OTHER HAND WHAT IS THAT? VERY INTERESTING

Thank you.
Vandoo, some of the work on the pommel of Piang's kris is okir work, some is something else attached. David, you would look good in that garb.

Thanks José for those great pics
![]() As for the 'stereo' view which shows the rest of the hilt, I can't find a better pic than the one below ... |
