Pretty darn nice dha but from where?
Here is an interesting dha from my collection that I would love to get some opinions as to where it most likely originates. One unique feature to it is the scabbard which is completely done in pierced silver. I have never seen this feature on a dha before. The handle appears to be elephant ivory and is superbly carved. Plenty of pictures to browse so please enjoy.

Adjust...
Rick, I suggest you edit your original post from pretty nice to superb!
This is one fine looking Dha with a lovely near straight blade! Burma for origins in my opinion purely by design. I'd love to see a good macro shot of one panel of silver, I really want to see the effect of looking through the panel and the background. Very nice! Congrats! Wow, Gavin is right...Superb piece Rick! Great condition! Definitely a fine example of the wonderful silver & ivory Burmese craftsmanship. (Burmese hands down no question)
Here are some similar examples, but none quite the level of silverwork...fantastic. http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=6348 http://dharesearch.bowditch.us/0057.htm http://dharesearch.bowditch.us/C0036.htm Thanks for sharing Rick! Last edited by Nathaniel; 18th April 2011 at 04:57 AM. |

Yes I was wondering Burma but not sure. For sure the repousse is fantastic as well as the ivory carving!
