Its an early 20th century British Indian Army mk.1 Pattern kukri. There quite sought after by collectors.

When dated the dates on the kukri I have seen are usualy between 1903 & 1915 although some scabbards were made at least as late as 1917.

Its worth Checking the spine & scabbard for further marks.

The blade markings probably imply use by the 2/8th Gurkha rifless as they have a penchant for marking thier kukris with soldiers & unit numbers.

Hi Spiral
I am interested to see you have IDd this as a MkI military kukri .... are there to your knowledge any refs in the lists of changes which refer to kukris and their various pattern as used by the British military ? Also how many Mks are recognised.
Thanks

I did this one awhile back.

Its not perfect but it may be of some help.

There are 5 mk. or pattern kukri but obviously there were many unit purchases from private contracters & some manufacture amongst units as well.

Thank you! Your to kind!

I first did it about 6 or 7 years ago & have updated it a couple of times, I will probably give it a final update early next summer.

Feel free to email or message if I can help you with any of your kukri.
