Default Our new toy - An unusual barong sword

This is our latest toy, a Barong sword with unusual carved handle:

and a close up on the handle.

For more details see: Unusual barong Sword

We would love to hear opinions from the Barong experts on possible origin and age.

Thumbs up

What Ariel said!

Comparing this with Fig.62 in Cato's Moro Swords I come to the conclusion that it's a variation on the Naga motif .
A very nice acquisition ; congratulations !!

I just saw this on your site (grumble, grumble, envy, envy ). Nice piece, I would guess middle of 19thc especially due to the carving.

Default Verrry nice

Agree with Rick. A rare Naga variant hilt on a blade that shows a lot of lamination with a pretty etch. Lovely piece. Thanks for showing us this one Artzi.

When you think about moving this one on, well ... you know ... call ...

Ian.
