Followed this odd item on ebay.
A Dukun/ shaman keris estimated Majapahit era ? Is this something serious, or just made for western eyes ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT Last edited by asomotif; 29th December 2010 at 12:18 AM. |

Yes, it's an amusing object with nasty workmanship. However, I'm curious about the iron they use ... Does it look like old iron (from old kerises) being recycled, or does it look like new modern material being reworked?

Just think a bit about where are we now in a year, and you will understand it....
it's Santa-Claus!!!! The problematic point is to call it "Keris Tombak" and "Rencong" and "estimate" it as "Tangguh Majapahit" after these three books, all other things may have happened, or may not with this item. For iron this is still a high price ![]() Quote:
![]() Yes, that was my feeling too. especially being offered in the X-mas season. But seriously, I still have some questions. - Is there any market for such an item within Indonesia, maybe as a djimat ? - Or is such an item purely made for outsiders/western collectors ? - Also I wonder if due to the nice book on keris sajen we might encounter more fantasy keris like objects in the future ? ![]() |

Common gentlemen, you got to be serious. Look at the dapur. It's the dukun (shaman or male witch) himself... lol

Hello tunggulametung,
Thanks for your reply. ET buy keris ![]() ![]() But from your reply I understand that this object may also be made a a djimat. The shape of an old man with hat and beard does not look very Indonesian to me, so therefore I had the feeling that this was made for westerners. Best wishes for 2011 ! Willem |
