Ok, time to 'fess up! Who got this one?
![]() http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/...m=180101163359 (It went for about 3000 bucks...) ![]() This nice piece (out of the Schmedes collection) is a Pedang Jenawi from southeastern Borneo: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1800 The blade looks very promising - I'd love to see it well polished! (Maybe try a slight etch before the last polishing rounds and take very good pics for documentation, pretty please!) Regards, Kai |

I tried with what I considered a high bid but obviously not enough.
![]() I don't think it is as old as those in the Leiden collection. Michael |

I am wondering whether the "Jenawi" part is from the same source as " Janwi" or " Genoui" : remember the straight-bladed Moroccan koummyas? Genoese?

I have been told that "Jenawi" means straight.
