Pedang Jenawi

Ok, time to 'fess up! Who got this one?

(It went for about 3000 bucks...)

This nice piece (out of the Schmedes collection) is a Pedang Jenawi from southeastern Borneo:

The blade looks very promising - I'd love to see it well polished!
(Maybe try a slight etch before the last polishing rounds and take very good pics for documentation, pretty please!)

Kai

I tried with what I considered a high bid but obviously not enough. :(
I don't think it is as old as those in the Leiden collection.

I am wondering whether the "Jenawi" part is from the same source as " Janwi" or " Genoui" : remember the straight-bladed Moroccan koummyas? Genoese?

It shows not much sign off heavely use

I have been told that "Jenawi" means straight.
