Default Help to Decipher Islamic scrip of Yataghans

Hi

I am trying to date three Yataghans in my collection and was wondering if anyone was able to decipher the scrip written on them?

Cheers Cathey

Hi Cathey,

Three lovely swords

Yataghan 2
Second side
1238 Hirji which translates to 1823 Gregorian

Yataghan 3
Second side
1291 Hirji which translates to 1874 Gregorian

I don't see a date on Yataghan 1

Ian.

Default Scrip on Swords

Thanks Ivan, I think Yataghan 1 just has writing, but no idea what is says at this stage. The dates are a great help though. Cheers Cathey
