Default Phillipines Punal?

Greetings all,
Here are photos of my latest purchase. The seller said that it is a Punal from the Phillipines, but I am not familiar with the term.
Can the experts confirm this please?
Any and all comments welcome; this old man is still learning!
Best,
Brian

No, it's a kris, but a fairly modern version (late 20th century at best) probably created for export. Hopefully you didn't pay too much for it.

David is right.

And the word "punal" is a Spanish word that generically means "knife". This word was later borrowed by Filipinos from the Spanish and applied along side other local tribal dialect words for the same thing.

However, this is a Moro kris, a type of Moro (south Muslim Philippines) sword, and they did not use the word punal.

David, thank you for your advice. Fortunately I did not pay a lot for the item and it is reasonably decorative anyway.
Best wishes to all Forum members
