Default Freaky face

And I thought the Mandau were the only ones with real freaky faces...this is from a old Javanese Pedang Lurus...can anyone identify this fella in Javanese Mythos or Wayang?

He's fantastic. What's it made of?

The style is so universal isn't it? Reminds me of Roman designs and medieval for that matter...
Really nice mate, can we see the rest?

Or ancient Greek for that matter. Do you suppose there is any connection?
I know some asian designs and the green man are thought by some to be descended from a single source. Could your 'freaky face' be a descendant of the Greek Gorgon?

Thanks Gene,

It is an uncanny likeness in every manner except the wild moustache and hair, however, he has been confirmed as Rakshasa.

Thanks Michael.

Sorry Gave, I missed your response .
That is a keris handle; I suspect that your pommel may be a recycled part of the same item .
Herewith a quick shot of the fellow .

Thanks Rick. The freaky face is custom, not modified Keris. The human hair topknot is a nice touch to add to the freaky
I suspect it is from the same region and workshop as that seen on page 94 of Zonneveld and likely the same age.

I wouldn't think so....I am only referring to the type and quality of work, not the freaky face
