Wonderful sword Detlef !!! It looks as though you have had a very busy week as far as collecting goes. My congratulations on all the great new additions to your collection.

Best,
Robert

Thank you Robert. Two weeks ago I have seen this and the two other swords as well a Boa sword listed by an auction house here in Germany. The minimum bid by all this swords I have given online and yesterday I was really surprised that I have won all four swords by this minimum bids. By my very limited knowlegde about Congo weapons I think that this bango is a very very good catch, special by the price I have paid.

Regards,

Detlef

I think that it is a Ngombe jemongo like shown from Luc in my other thread in post #10: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=17387
Very similar but from a other tribe.

Regards,

Detlef

Have received the bango yesterday. It is 48,5 cm long with a heavy and good worked blade. The diameter at the "arms" is 18 cm. Have cleaned the edges from the surface rust and have cleaned the blade from old dirt and grease. The copper wire at the handle have receiced a decent polish. I think the that I can't fix the wire binding at the end of the handle since I think this demage is caused by climate break from the wood. All comments are welcome.
