Sword insurance?

Who do you fellow collectors use to insure your antique swords?

Hello,

My insurance company indicated that most antiques can be covered under the home insurance. Coverage of specific items requires additional documentation and appraisal.

No offense, but I would not trust that. I understand that it is better to get them insured separately.

Quite right. The specific coverage is indeed a separate insurance policy.

I insure my pieces separately from my general home unspecified contents.
I give them a disc with my excel inventory, including full description and prices as bought; together with global pictures that i take to the locations where the pieces are displayed.
They first came with the story of weapons legality but, when i assured them they are all collection antiques and not passive of manifest, they accepted without resistance.

I highly recommend Steve Boyett Insurance at www.antiqueguninsurance.com. They will insure up to $250,000 without appraisal. You can list items individually with value, or you can do a lump coverage and specify what the maximum value is for any single item or you can do a combination. They carry both collectors and dealers insurance, the prices are very reasonable and given the lack of an appraisal needed if insuring below $250K it is very simple to set up. The first step is to go to the website and complete the introductory form and they will contact you.
