Default Pamor

Question;

Is there a specific name within the Keris world for blades that have distinct differing pamors on each blade face?

With thanks

Gavin

Thanks Rick,

I ran it through the translator to get an understanding of the literal translation;

Dwi was not recognised but Warna is colour so if I was to hazard a guess this would be double colour?

Could this term then be used on a blade that also shows two pamor on the one face of the blade?

With thanks

Gavin

in this context of pamor, 'warna' means pamor.

'dwi' = two

'tri' = three

'panca' = five.

thus dwi warna = two pamors, tri warna = three pamors, panca warna = five pamors

Hi Alan,

Am I correct in the application of these words being that it can refer to both a differing pamor to each face and also differing pamors to one face or is there more specific terms when drilling down this much.

With thanks

Gavin

no gavin, these terms only refer to differing pamors that are the same on each blade face, when you have a different pamor on each blade face it is called pamor tangkis and is considered to be a protective device against black magic.

On Lombok different Pamor on each blade side is called Pamor Seliwah, according to Ir. H. Lalu Djelenga.

Thank you Gustav.

I am wondering about the name in other keris cultures too, Malaysia, Southern Thailand, Sumatra, Bali and the many others...Would Bali fall under the Java name perhaps?

i am resurrecting this old thread because i just encountered this name Pamor Seliwah regarding such pamor in Lombok in another place so this can confirm that name to a certain extent, though it is quite possible this other source got this info from Ir. H. Lalu Djelenga to begin with. I believe in Jawa this would also be referred to as keris tangkis.
Here is my humble example.
