Kau sin ke
Another one was unearthed in my great unpack!
An all iron flail Wushu weapon from the 19th century. I've seen a few others, but they are not worked and finished as nicely as this one. This one I've owned for a very long time. I don't even remember where I got it. The workmanship is wonderful and precise, each chain link is jointed and decoratively filed. The two end weights were sculpted beautifully. It's an inch or two short of four feet long, with two leaf-like embellishments linked to each weight. |

That is a nice example in excellent condition. I have one that is almost exactly the same (http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ght=chain+whip), but without the interesting leaf shaped decorations. I have only seen two examples of this particular kind of chain whip, but the swivel design with the embossed "rays" and individually swiveling "stirrup", is found on many Chinese soft weapons (not that these are soft ). The antiques are slightly shorter and heavier than modern versions making for a faster whipping action. They are absolutely terrifying to use.
