Default Jambiyah evaluation

I was in an antique store looking at old stuff and noticed a Jambiyah. I only know it to be a Jambiyah because it was labled as such. It also appears to be similar to Jambiyah's I have seen posted here on this board over the past few weeks of my membership.

How do I evaluate this knife. What do I look for to establish its authenticity and it assess it's value. What features do I look for that would establish it as more than just a tourist piece or run of the mill knife? What am I looking for that would make this knife desirable in a collection?

What type of jambiya is it? Yemeni, Omani, Wahabite? Jambiyas come in many different styles and they can vary in quality. Some are covered in real silver while others could be covered in white metal or brass. Is the hilt horn or wood or bone? I just posted some pics of to very nice quality Yemeni jambiyas a couple of days ago. Here is the link so you can get an idea of what to look for.

Martini Henry Rifles are my field of expertise, not Jambiyah. Before finding this board a couple of weeks ago these were just an" Arab" knife to me. Now I know it has a name. Sum total of my knowledge. So what country? Beats me! I am going for pictures today.

Applying the principles of collecting MH's here what I would look at. Handle material? blade shape and construction-laminated- bar stock? Adornment of handle and sheath? Inscriptions and how applied-etched or engraved. Anything else?

What price range should I espect for tourist level-run of the mill-entry level Jambiyah.
