Shamshir Listed on eBay - BEWARE of SCAM!
First, I am sorry for posting on currently listed for sale item. The problem is that this item is mine... and the seller is someone else from Ukraine.
This shamshir ( eBay link ) was bought by me from one of the most reputable eBayers and highly esteemed member of this Forum in 2010. The earlier pictures were used by the scammer from Ukraine to list it now. Notice they do not show the whole item and open the auction at 0.99 with no reserve. I am surprised they accept Paypal, but likely have other plans in mind. I will contact eBay with the link to this post and report the scam. Hope they will stop the auction and ban the user. |

This is permitted under the rules, Alex. Hopefully you can get eBay to shut it down before someone gets scammed.

Alex, If I were you id bid a million dollars on it, in about 20 separate bids building up each time....... $10,$100$1000,$5000 etc.etc. to save him "selling" it for cash quickly.
That way any cash sale offer will probably come to you.... Might help Untill ebay get there act together.... spiral |

Alex, don't have hope that ebay will do something, I have had the same two times some years ago with a salawaku I have listed on ebay in my early beginning of ebay sales, this shield reached a price $2550 but by some reason this shield is still in my collection until today. Both "seller" used my pictures and my description. I contacted ebay but they have done nothing so I have done what spiral write in a similar way to prevent a possible buyer to lose a lot of money. Since I have contacted the "sellers" also, without any answer of course, I never get an invoice.
Regards, Detlef |

Pay attention: PayPal is accepted ONLY on items < $500. After that, - bank transfer. Shipping is "guaranteed" after a month wait. During this time, E-Bay will do nothing : they will tell you to wait a bit more.
More than enough time for the scammer to get the money, close the bank account permanently and to disappear without a trace. |

Sajen, looks like you're right. eBay shows no interest, they did not even ask for details
As others noted, this is a "bank transfer and run" scam from likely hacked account. |

Well, in this case E-Bay will have to reimburse the buyer :-) They have a policy of full protection.

Ariel,
eBay does offer full protection, but for most (not all) transactions. They do not cover wire transfer. Here's their policy: Purchases are covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee when all of the following are true: An item isn't received or it isn't as described in the listing A case is opened no later than 30 days after actual (or latest estimated) delivery date, or for tickets, 7 days after the event The purchase was made with the Pay Now option or an eBay invoice One of the following payment methods was used: PayPal ProPay Skrill Credit card or debit card Bill Me Later The item was paid for in a single payment (including payments with Bill Me Later). |

You are 100% correct. I found it out yesterday, since I never ever was interested in it. Now I know....
I think the behavior of E-Bay is reprehensible. They ask for a proof of a scam: you had it and offered to provide an iron-clad case, but they just ignored you. The " winner"... poor schmuck.... |

As suspected, the listing was ended by the seller "because there was an error in the listing". I am afraid it could be buy-now offer from unsuspected victim who does not realize eBay does not cover bank transfer.
