Keris? or....
Picked this lot up in auction today fairly cheaply. Should be with me next week.
12 in. blade Spear-point appears to be African, Probably would have bought it on it's own. but was bundled with this keris-like object that looks a bit unusual. 8 in. blade. looks a bit rusty...but quite odd. I like odd. What the heck is it though? Comments appreciated, thanks. |

Hello Wayne,
search for keris buda. Possibly of fairly recent manufacture since original ones are rare (crude craftsmanship; the rough undulated edges certainly look weird). Alan will be better qualified to comment - some more pics might help though. Regards, Kai |

A crudely made Javanese kris-like object vaguely imitating a kris Budha, from the pic I don't know if it is an old piece or a replica. Other opinions will be welcome of course.
PS: I agree with Kai (he beat me for replying). Last edited by Jean; 18th August 2019 at 06:09 PM. |

I like this Buda-esque keris; I couldn't speak to its age, the blade resembles knapped flint or obsidian.
If it's new I'm a bit surprised that it hasn't been 'aged' more. |

To me it looks like an attempt at a Keris Buda that has been abandoned before completion. In its present state even Blind Freddy would not be sucked in.
It does appear to have some age in the fittings, so maybe pre-WWII. |
