Default Please, could anybody identfy this sword ?

This sword was bought in old town Kano in northern Nigeria. Overall length is 77 cm. Blade: of lenticular profile, really very heavy, length 61 cm, width 6 cm, if you fillip it, it sounds like nice high tone. One sight of the sword is badly rusted (in layers).

I would be grateful for any standpoint re.origin, use, age etc.

My personal idea is: Hilt and pommel are of Tebbu dagger style (I have several such daggers - some of them are also very long, but from far they are not so heavy and wide..o Once I have also seen very old photo of Moroccan man with Berber rifle - he had short sword of this pommel style, too, hung on rope over his shoulder...

Hi Martin

Welcome!

You are correct that is a Tebu piece minus the leather wrappings. It is badly rusted so there is no way to determine it's age
