Question Patang knife

Many years ago on the old forum, some may recall, I post pictures of this knife suggesting that it was American frontier/Indian. That was soon knocked on the head. Then there was speculation of North Africa. Finally I settled on South Africa. I think this is the answer. The hide scabbard does not at first suggest Asia or the Himalayas but why not. The tang fitting into the handle this way is very typical of a vast part of the region. The knife seems to be a perfect village match to these links.

Only difference is that my example is old.
