North African Dagger
I bought this dagger because it was affordable and because I thought it was traditional and interesting. The blade is 11 cm long from the sharp shoulder to the tip, and 12 cm from the sharp shoulder rearwards. It has a rat-tail tang, riveted at the very top. I feel pretty confident the handle material is horn and bone.
I have no information on it, and can only throw a guess into the air and hope it is not too wild. I'm thinking North Africa, Arab or Berber. Please set me straight! Regards Johan |

I think you have to look to Senegal and Mauritanian daggers, Bissagos also would be a good possibility.

Detlef, my sincere thanks! You've wrapped this one up for me in a neat package.
For those who have not followed the links with me, it seems the dagger I bought is Senegalese. The clues really do all seem to point in this direction. With much apprciation Johan |
