Default A strange Keris !!!

Hello, me again,
(this time I found a reliable way to show my pictures)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/granet_n/

Here, you'll see the strange keris I've found...
I say "stange" because the blade seems NOT to be coated with a black layer, the blade is clearly not rough. It reminds me something of a moro blade, seems to have no pamor (no etching).

So is it a fake?
Is it a geniune one?
Something else?
old? new?

Thank you for your expertise

Nicolas

Nicholas, there is absolutely nothing stange about this keris, it is a fairly typical late 19thC style Balinese keris. This is not BTW, the keris which came up for me in your previous thread. That one, also Balinese, was a much nicer keris.

Just to go a bit further, it is the tradition of Balinese blades to be polished to a smooth finish. Also a blade will only be black if treated with Warangan (arsenic and lime) and this must be done from time to time to keep up the color. This blade is obviously overdue. Since it is polished in the mode of Balinese blades it may very well have a pamor pattern that you just can't see until it is re-stained...or it may have no pamor. This is not at all unusal for Indonesian keris

Education is a never-ending process. Once stopped, its downhill all the way.
