Russian arms books for sale
Have one copy of each of the following:
Leonid Tarasyuk, ANTIQUE EUROPEAN AND AMERICAN FIREARMS AT THE HERMITATE MUSEUM, Leningrad: Iskusstvo, 1972. 220 pp, clothbound, with d.j., Russian text, over 500 items illus in color/BW photoplates, high quality paper and printing, exhaustive captions in English, indices of gunsmiths and decorators, barrel and lock marks, dates of manufacture and provenance data on all guns featured. Most of the weapons are European, from hand cannons to early breechloading, most of outstanding artistic quality; the coverage of the rarer early ignition systems (wheel, snaphaunce, proto-flintlocks) is exceptional. Excellent, almost new condition. $30 including postage within USA add $14 for overseas shipping (priority flat-rate envelope rate) Vladimir Berman, MASTERPIECES OF TULA GUN MAKERS, Moscow: Planeta, 1981. 143 pp, clothbound in attractive cardboard slipcase, high quality printing and paper, all photoplates in color. all-English text and captions, summarizes history of arms mfg at Tula. Arms featured in book date from 18th cent. through present, detail shots show how distinctly Russian themes and styles of decoration developed. Most appear to be in the collection of the Tula Museum of Arms, which is not well known nor has been extensively published outside of Russia. INCLUDED ARE SOME VERY FINE EDGED WEAPONS -- presentation sabers, palace guard pole arms, court smallswords, hunting daggers, etc INCLUDING A VERY RARE KARABELA SABER with damascus blade, cut-steel "jewelled" fittings, and rayskin scabbard.
