Curious Borneo Sword
Here is a curious little sword I would love to get some feedback from. I don't think it is particularly old, probably WWII or after, but the blade and hilt combination are quite unusual, and yet all are clearly "born together". The blade is heavy and thick at 19in. The hilt appears to be iron wood. The sharp portion of blade, and the scabbard, are more Dayak in appearance to me, while the hilt and forte looks more Murut...a very strange combo in my eyes.
I will appreciate any thoughts put forth... |

What I think is unusual for me is the way the blade comes out below the hilt.

Answer to query .....
Hullo everybody,
I was asked what the above item was, so I thought it most appropriate to post my answer here. To me, it's a Tangkitn Laki from western Kalamantan(Borneo). I've attached an image of a similar item. The following ref. may help: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ght=kalamantan Best, |
