Thumbs up Solomon Island dance spear

Just managed to score. Dance spear, there is a broken one to go with it. 30 inches long so it is hopefully a nice piece and I would will be happy if it is the early decades of the 20th century. I have expanded the picture as it was rather small.

Hi Tim,
I placed the first (low) bid on these ....with a view of putting a 'proper' bid later ....and forgot . Like you I believed these could be ceremonial ...my concern is that both seem to be in very good condition...as if 'unused' .(which made me think 'tourist' ) However, the pictures are poor ....good they went to a fellow formite.....fingers crossed they are early 20th.

Regards David

Hello David. I kept it low as there is the possibility that it is poorly made tourist stuff. Have to wait untill it arrives. However is does look as if it may be fine work. I am not expecting anything older than the first half of the 20th century. I am trying to find some pictures to post latter. This very recent "youtube" thing is interesting. It also makes me hopeful of recieving a nice piece.
