Hi Jacques, Always nice to find a signed and decorated blade. The sheath style
is I'd say early Nineteen hundreds. You didn't say but assume it is silver. Great

both koummyas are beautiful
but when I look for "le melopsitte", it's absolutely unknown on the net
a part that, it's a bird from Australia ! strange

these koummyas, give me to think,
more a special order made to be offered as gift to a very special guest,
than a country production, even of hight standard

before 1929 the "stainless" wasn't commercialized
and the 2 blades "le Meropsitte" are ... stainless (mention of INOX on )
for me these Khoumeyyas are made around ± 1960/70 at the oldest

Great work Dom. Following your lead the bird maybe a dove. Interesting about the early use of stainless. Here's one very much like Lotfys. I like both of them.

at least 50 years, you said Jacques ...
that make sense with what I gave as date; ± 1960 either; ± 58 years
it's not before 1956 that the Maroc acceded to his independency
before this date,
the country wasn't structured enough to produce such items of high quality
I well noticed, that the "ricasso" of your koummya seems be old ... or old fashion

what make a question mark, it's that mark of "le melopsitte"
who hasn't existence some where else, no idea what was (is) behind ?

i agree whis you dom,my feeling is the koummya and the chiken are moderns
but in 40 years is the only decent blade i so
wayting for something better.

Not sure I got much to add, but the Arabic on my koummya says: Al Ahd alJadeed (New Era)

Since The first koummya isn't marked stainless and the blade shows some tarnishing, I'm still thinking 30s 40s.
Can we begin to date undated koummya by their style of dress? I'm not sure maybe the styling is just more regional.
Here are two examples I believe are WWII bring backs . They both have the same baldric styles. the top one, used a bit has very polished blade maker markings look worn off. Is it perhaps stainless?? This koummya has a presentation plate, dated 1943.
