LUZON BLADE
Hi all,
This just came into our house today. I believe it is a Luzon bolo/sword- but that's just about it. My father and I never had anything Luzon in our collection, so our knowledge to this kind of blade is almost nil (only that it is Luzon). These are some traits to the blade: a) the hilt is made from cabarao horn b) scabbard: tooled leather with ornate design patters; c) ferrule: octagonal d) tang: peened on the rear part of the hilt. 1) what is it called? 2) any particular part of Luzon this particular blade might come from? 3) possible age? 4) is there a metal point tube at the end of the scabbard that is not there anymore? I plan to have it fully restored to its pristine condition. Really appreciate any information on this old warrior. Kindest regards Yves |
