I am drooling over this stuff! Much more impressive material on display than I remember seeing in the Museo del Ejército in Madrid in the 1970s.
Say, Nando, isn't this museum housed in the Alcázar, overlooking the Rio Tejo, which was besieged and practically destroyed during the Civil War, and reconstructed since under the Franco regime? |

By the way, did you ask if a comprehensive catalog has been published of this collection? Or even a well illustrated book focusing on its highlights?

Having being around some twenty years ago, i did not visit its interior. I have (much) later read about the museum but thought they would only have a few pieces in exhibition in one of the building wings; it could have been like that but (at least) now, all floors are stuffed with material, divided on a thematic basis. Also they have (recently) done excavations and some Roman constructions are exposed. A place to visit, no doubt ... and even get lost inside such huge palace. |

That's a marvellous set of photos you have posted. Thank you so much, especially for all those photos of early cannon.
