Looking for Photos of Pulwars/Poulowars With Knuckle Guards
I am in the midst of a retsoration project to replace a knuckle guard on an old Afghan poulowar which clearly once had one. I know the ones on a poulowar are not really similar at all to the ones on a tulwar.
I realy like to see what some real examples look like. Last edited by CharlesS; 1st March 2008 at 03:40 PM. |

I believe the knuckle guard is original to the hilt, however not sure how common this particular type of guard is to pulowar hilts (have not seen many similar ones).

Thanks Alex,
They are not common at all, and amlost always seem like an afterthought, or later addition to the hilt. This is why I would like to see some good examples to get mine restored correctly. Often the knuckle guards looks much like those on khyber knives with guards, but are more elegant and elongated. |

I agree with you Charles,
Hopefully someone will show a better and more original example. Good luck with your project! |

Hi every body
I haven't more original and better, just a common some 25 years ago I bought a sword, very cheap, because the blade was interesting me, my knowledge about ethnographic arms was nil and I dismantled the blade from the guard, kept that one, then used the blade for something else, in fact an other tale, that later I will show you in pictures the result with the help of craftsmen of Damas in Syria à + Dom |
