The description was quite honest ; no 'story' attached .
There's no accounting for prices on ebay . Possibly the same bidders would turn their noses up at a genuine antique example . Go figure . |

I was also watching this auction in amazement. Seems like a hefty price for such a new kris of fairly low quality manufacture. I hope it's new owner knew what he was buying.

Uuuh, my first thought was: "That are the ugliest luks I've seen in a while!"
I wonder wether a slow-learning apprentice needed several tries at grinding them and ended up with such a slender blade. BTW, here's another beauty: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6558531546 (I had a good laugh discovering the baca-baca-like "feature"...) Regards, Kai |

I feel VERY dense: I still did not get it....
Will anybody kind enough send me a message what am I supposed to laugh about? P.S. BTW, did anyone of you ever contact a buyer and tell him that he had been had? Are there any Forum limitations? Legal repercussions? Ethical issues? If yes, can it be done only after a sale is completed or during an active auction as well? |

Privately contacting any party to an eBay auction does not violate any forum rules. Personally, I don't do it, as the potential for legal trouble concerns me. If incorrect, you could be liable for things like defamation or "tortious interference with an advantageous business relationship". In any event, you expose yourself to lawsuits. Even the frivolous type can be expensive to defend. Best, Andrew |

Got it (finally).
Too tangential a reference for me to catch without some help ... sort of a Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon thing. |

Well, I agreed with that assessment. I just didn't make the connection between it being a tourist piece and zamboanga's definition.

I want, I want, I want... getting this amount of money for such... ahem, beauty. BTW, I got less for a rather big longsword with a 900*60*6mm good cutting blade... If I think after it, I got less than half of it. Maybe... I should start mass-producing these? They'd be handmade, from the east (if you're west to Hungary, then I'm east to you ), and it'd be cheap!
